About me

Founder, Leader and Director of Birmingham Perl Mongers (birmingham.pm.org). Currently on a "World Tour" speaking about Perl to various UK Perl and Linux user groups. Soon to be attending the YAPCs of YAPC::NA and YAPC::Europe.

An ex-roadie/lighting engineer, working for a variety of bands from 1984-2004, including Ark, IQ, Prolapse and Cusp. Travelled most of Europe, and pretty every venue in the UK during that time.

Getting more interested in photography, following on from when I was touring with bands, and started taking both live concert shots and candid shots. Love taking people pictures, as it can be extremely entertaining catching people off guard and capturing some unusual expressions.

Listen to all sorts of music, and thankfully there hasn't been much that I don't like. Some music might not motivate or inspire me, but it's rare for me to discover something I truly dislike. Still love gigging, although don't get to go so much these days. The live atmosphere at a gig can be quite a drug :)
